The proving grounds tells that 74-percent of business computers are still running the behemoth XP that's why the OS giant will extend XP's lifespan through 2020, far from early reports that Microsoft will drop its support for XP.

"Going forward, businesses can continue to purchase new PCs and utilize end user downgrade rights to Windows XP or Windows Vista until they are ready to use Windows 7," according to official Windows blog post. Users reluctance to upgrade with newer OS is reportedly due to reliance on older much stable OS and added cost for IT.
Right now, I'm using both Windows 7 and XP for my personal laptop and office PC, respectively, I don't find any major changes in the interface and in my own opinion both works almost the same in terms of speed and performance. Though there are much new added features for 7. Upgrading to Win7 is a win-win situation therefore I want to recommend it.
