It looks that Companies are going to have tough completion to attract customers of USB 3.0. After the Release of Freecom latest USB3.0 Hard Drive earlier this month Buffalo Technology, which is a global leader in the field of Design, development and manufacturing of storage and wireless networking announced its latest USB 3.0 external hard drive at Intel Development Forum 9 ( IDF) in San Francisco.
Buffalo Drive Station HD-HXU3 offers Data transfer speed of 125MB/s which is a bit low than Freecom XS 3.0 130MB/s but it’s still 3 to 4 times faster than the fastest USB2.0 Device available. The main difference which make the USB 3.0 much faster that USB 2.0 is an additional parallel Data transfer bus to the existing USB 2.0 Structure which gives USB 3.0 four pairs to transfer data as compared to only two pairs in USB 2.0.USb 3.0 devices support bi-directional data transfer due to which data can transfer in both directions simultaneously as compared to half-duplex data transfer method in USB 2.0 where data could be transferred only in one direction. USB 3.0 has better power management features than its parents USB 2.0 devices. USB 3.0 devices will automatically go to virtual sleep mode when not in use making your system more power efficient.
The latest HD-HXU3 combines both USB 3.0 technology and latest hard disk technology to create a high performance super speed hard disk. The estimate time HD-HXU3 drive will take to transfer 5 GB file would be around 40 seconds which would be great for users who need to transfer gigabytes of data daily. In Addition to this the drive will improve the interaction between device and host computer.
The HD-HXU3 is backward compatible, hence user can use it with their old USB2.0 ports but to take full advantage of the Super Speed Data Transfer user need to install USB 3.0 controller Card on their System. For this Purpose Buffalo has launched USB 3.0 Controller called IFC-PCIE2U3. The controller will help users to take the full advantage of the speeds offered by USB 3.0 Technology.
In Glossy Black and the Cool Sleek Model, these Drives would be available in three capacities 1.0TB, 1.5TB and 2.0TB soon in the Market. The pricing details of the drive are still yet to be disclosed but after seeing the prices of Freecom USB 3.0 external Hard Disk, its being assumed that they would be easily affordable.
